How Old is the Protractor?

To first answer the question in title, the protractor is over 500 years old.

Thomas Blundeville described a tool specifically for drawing and measuring angles in his 1589 Briefe Description of Universal Mappes & Cardes. It was commonly used in navigation and maps.

I would guess many of us used protractors in school growing up. But depending on what kind of job you ended up doing in life, you might never use a protractor again.

As far as the image is concerned, a coworker printed out an image of a protractor and it was left out on a work table. I took a picture and edited it in Picsart.
